Excerpts from A Country Pathway

I come upon it suddenly, alone-
A little pathway winding in the weeds
That fringe the roadside; and with dreams my own,
I wander as it leads.

Full wistfully along the slender way,
Through summer tan of freckled shade and shine,
I take the path that leads me as it may-
Its every choice is mine

A chipmunk, or a sudden- whirring quail,
Is startled by my step as on I fare-
A garter-snake across the dusty trail
Glances and- is not there.

Above the arching jimson-weeds flare twos
And twos of sallow-yellow butterflies,
Like blooms of lorn primroses blowing loose
When autumn winds arise.

The trail dips- dwindles- broadens then, and lifts
Itself astride a cross-road dubiously,
And, from the fennel marge beyond it, drifts
Still onward, beckoning me.

Why, I am as a long-lost boy that went
At dusk to bring the cattle to the bars,
And was not found again, though Heaven lent
His mother all the stars.

And lo! through the mists that may not be dispelled,
I see an old farm homestead, as in dreams,
Where, like a gem in costly setting held,
The old log cabin gleams.

Oh, darling Pathway! lead me bravely on
Adown your valley-way, and run before
Among the roses crowding up the lawn
And thronging at the door,-

And carry up the echo there that shall
Arouse the drowsy dog, that he may bay
The household out to greet the prodigal
That wanders home to-day.

Is anyone else having problems with Blogger?

For the life of me, I cannot get in to answer any of my dear readers comments. I have spent several days trying to reset passwords, change my settings, contact Blogger directly and anything else I can think of to resolve this problem, which has been going on for quite some time. Still nothing works.
I just want you all to know once again that I am not ignoring your comments... I have been trying to respond, but something is cursed. I don't know what else to do, but I'm determined to figure this out! Please bear with me! xox ~Laura

I had this problem several weeks ago, then one day it started working again? Still not sure what happened.

Hi Laura,
I love your blue blog-just beautiful! EVERYONE is having blogger problems. When you sign into blogger don't check the "stay signed in" box. For whatever reason this resolved many of the problems and was suggested by many blog friends it also worked for.

Yay JoAnne! THANK YOU ever so much for your help... IT WORKED! I am so grateful... this has been going on for quite a while. I have a screenfull of digital sticky notes pasted on my computer filled with return comments waiting to be sent, and now I can copy and paste them, thanks to you! xox

If you go thru google and it looks for your signing in info (email address and password) make sure your sign in is UNCHECKED or it keeps bringing you back to that page and wont let you leave a comment. Hope this helps.
